13 Weeks!

It's FRIDAY!!!! This song has got to be on of the most annoying songs ever but I can almost guarantee that it will be stuck in your head! Listen to it.... you know you want to! :)

And because it's Friday I got that email again today... The countdown at the top says 13 weeks! Wow I can't believe how it's coming so quick!

This week we got a little walk in since it was so nice and so warm outside! We walked about 3 miles which is not a lot but at least we got out and did something right?!

We also went out on Saturday and collected our cans. I think it went ok... There weren't a lot of houses that put cans out but the ones that did I was surprised with how they but out. One house put out two huge garbage bags of can and many cartons of beer bottles! We returned them earlier this week ans I think our total was about $35... Not to bad for only about a hour of fundraising.

So for the inspiring song of the week... this week I picked If today was your last day by Nickelback. The song is pretty self explanatory but the question is...if today was your last day are you satisfied with what you have done with your life? Live each day like it is your last! Enjoy!

14 Weeks!

Today as I sat down to check my email I got the email I get every Friday, the Virtual Personal Trainer email that gives you tips for training, fundraising, etc. but this week I noticed the countdown at the top of the email and I could not believe it said 14 weeks! I cannot believe that the walk is in just 14 weeks! It made me really think I need to get myself in gear and start training, training, training and fundraising, fundraising, fundraising! Ahh!

Speaking of fundraising last night my mom and I went for a little walk around our neighborhood with flyers for a bottle and can drive. We are going to go around Saturday morning and collect them from everyone’s porches and hopefully we get LOTS of cans! I will keep you updated on how that goes!

We are also having another fundraiser event, a Quarter Mania May 26th in Bellville at the Bellville Mouse... You are probably wondering what exactly a Quarter Mania is right? Well you bid on quality vendor items with 1 to 4 quarters (per paddle) depending on retail value.  Once all quarter bids are placed a randomly chosen number is called.  If the person with that number placed a bid they win the item(s).  Numbers will continue to be drawn until there is a winner.  Pretty simple right?! I think it is going to be so much fun and hopefully it will help out with fundraising a lot!

On another note as I was listening to some music and I came across this song… it’s called I Was Here by Lady Antebellum and I LOVE it! It’s just sums up what I want to do with my life. I want to do something that matters and say something different and that is what this song says. I think this song is so inspiring I thought that every week I should post and inspirational song so this is the first inspirational song!

Hello! My name is Nicole—I’m 16 years old and so excited to be starting this blog! This coming August I will be taking on an amazing challenge. I will be walking 60 miles in 3 days in the Michigan Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure! I will be camping out in pink tents with thousands of other men and women also taking this amazing journey. I will be taking showers in trucks and using porta potties with no running water but I will not complain because I am doing all of this for just one simple reason… to find a CURE for breast cancer!

My blog, 60 Miles 1 Goal is designed to let you in on my journey of walking 60 miles for 1 goal, to end Breast Cancer FOREVER! Follow me as I walk endless miles while training, as I raise my $2,300, and finally follow me while I take the amazing journey of walking those 60 miles August 12-14th!

I will be walking along side my mom this year who is a veteran to walking those 60 miles. She has walked in the 3-day for 6 years! Ever since she started I have wanted to walk but I couldn’t because you have to be at least 16. This year I am 16 and I get to walk! I am so excited!! We will be walking for so many but especially for my cousin, Jennifer. She was so strong during everything she had to go through, walking 60 miles will be like a walk in the park compared to what cancer patients have to go through. Which brings me back to why I am doing this… because everyone deserves a lifetime. Every mother, every sister, every daughter deserves to know a life free from breast cancer!
